Field Trip to Food Services

We are excited for our upcoming field trip to Food Services!  Currently, your child is learning about nutrition and making healthy choices.  To learn more about nutrition, the students will travel to Food Services to see where and how their school lunches are made.  We will take a tour and meet the people who help to serve us healthy meals every day.  The field trip will be on Wednesday, October 16.  Permission slips will be coming home soon with more information.  If you would like to chaperone this trip, please contact me via email: karla_j_heinemann@mcpsmd.org

School Supplies!

Here are the school supplies your child will need for second grade:

(1) plastic school box

(1) box of crayons (24ct)

(2) black composition books (hardcover)

(2) glue sticks

(2) bar erasers

(1) yellow highlighter

(12) yellow #2 pencils (no mechanical pencils, please!)

(4) black dry erase markers (low odor)

(1) pair scissors (blunt tip)

(5) pocket folders (1 red, 1 yellow, 1 green, 1 blue, 1 purple)

(1) pack 3x5 index cards

All supplies are community supplies, no names needed

Tissues
Paper towels

Hand sanitizer

Ziploc slider bags: sandwich and 2 gallon sized

Welcome Back!

I am so excited to be your child's teacher for the upcoming school year.  Together, I know we can make this year a successful one for your child.  This blog is one step in ensuring communication between home and school.  I will use this blog as a tool to share classroom news, important dates, parent resources, and any other information that is essential to helping you and your child have a great year.  I can't wait to meet all of you at the Meet & Greet this Friday between 1-3 pm.  My classroom is located in Portable 1.  See you all there!
